Sticks, Stones, and Steaks:
Making God-centered decisions in a gray world

We are excited to let you know that we will be holding another Young Adult Retreat on May 20-21 at Peniel Bible Camp sponsored once again by the CORE Young Adult Ministry of Westerville Bible Church. Last year was a great start to what we hope is a highly anticipated date on your calendar each year.

We will surely have a lot of fun this weekend with exciting activities, warm fellowship, and delicious food. However, the most important aspect of our retreat will be the challenges to our thinking and our living from the Word of God. Life choices aren’t easy and can be very complex, even for those who desire to live for God. We will focus on timeless principles from a biblical grid (1 Corinthians 8-10) to help us consider culture, community and, above all, Christ. The three sessions will be as follows:

  • Dealing with Debatable Issues
  • Cautions in Addressing Debatable Issues
  • Principles for Determining Debatable Issues

Our Speaker

Brian Trainer serves as the dean at Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary. Prior to that role, Brian has served on the administration and faculty at multiple Christian universities and seminaries. He also has served in pastoral ministry for over 20 years. He loves being with college-aged young people and those preparing for future ministry. He and his wife, Sherry, have also traveled to over forty countries teaching nationals and supporting missionaries.

What to Expect

The retreat will be held at Peniel Bible Camp. You will be staying in cabins with other young adults. If you would like to request to stay with someone in particular, please let us know when you register. Feel free to dress casually, but please dress modestly and appropriately so as not to detract from the goal of the weekend.

What to Bring

The cost is $30 which includes overnight accommodations and three meals. Bring your Bible, notebook, bedding, toiletries, appropriate clothing for chapel and recreation, and money (if you would like something from the Snack Shop or Store).
