Let’s try this again! I was saddened that our spring retreat couldn’t quite get off the ground, but hopefully we’ll have a little better success this time. So, if you have some time the weekend of November 1-2, why don’t you plan to join us at Peniel Bible Camp for the latest installment of our Young Adult Retreat? We are reminded of change as we head into autumn – humid days to cool mornings and evenings, bright greens to oranges and reds and yellows, and shorts and t-shirts to jeans and sweatshirts – but some things don’t change. These times of fellowship never disappoint, and those of you who have attended in the past can attest to that. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to grow in your relationships with others and, most importantly, with your God.

This fall, we will be focusing on the topic of discipleship. Pastor Mike Hixson from Grace Church of Mentor will be leading our discussions centered around the theme – “Building People, Not Programs.” The goal of this study is to reshape (or reinforce) our mindset about ministry so that we are constantly aware of the goal of discipleship. Essentially, we all need to better learn how to be a disciple and how to make others. With that in mind, this retreat would be ideal for anyone who needs to become a disciple or who needs to grow in discipleship. Hint…that’s all of us. So, invite someone to come with you, and get a head start on our topic. (Speaking of head starts, we will be emphasizing material from The Trellis and the Vine if you would like to read through in advance.)

What to Expect

The retreat will be held at Peniel Bible Camp. Our first official event is dinner at 7 PM on Friday, November 1. You can certainly arrive earlier, though, and we plan to finish by 3 or 4 PM on Saturday (and you’re welcome to leave later). You will be staying in A-frame cabins with other young adults, and if we fill those cabins, we’ll use the lakefront area and then the youth cabins. If necessary, preference will be given to those who register earlier. Feel free to dress casually, but please dress modestly and appropriately so as not to detract from the goal of the weekend.

What to Bring

The cost is $30 which includes overnight accommodations and three meals. Bring your Bible, notebook, bedding, toiletries, and appropriate clothing for both the weather and recreation.
