Every September, Westerville Bible Church hosts a missionary conference to keep our minds and hearts focused on the world-wide scope of Jesus’ great commission. This fall, we are looking forward to a weekend of Bible messages, visual presentations, and times of fellowship with our missionaries that will remind us that Jesus is still building His church as he promised to do.

“I Will Build My Church”

From around the world come reports of Christians being killed and church buildings destroyed. Will Christianity survive Satan’s onslaught? Jesus promised to build a Church that would stand firm through time and trials. The Son of God is victorious in his mission on earth, and his body, the Church, will not be defeated by death or the efforts of the ungodly.

Jesus marched into Caesarea Philippi, a region where people worshipped Greek gods and goddesses, and made a powerful revelation. On the confession of faith Christ said he would establish the community of believers. The true Church which the Lord is today building endures all hostility against it and stands awaiting Christ’s return.

We can press on in faithfulness, proclaiming Christ in boldness, knowing that persecution and martyrdom will come, but the Church will stand. Our Lord conquered death and Hell, and we don’t hold our lives dear because death cannot hold any Christian, let alone Christ’s Church. Christ will triumph, and his Church will be triumphant! Local witness and global missions advance with confidence in Christ’s promise of power.
