Paul would soon be assaulted and arrested. This was not evidence that he ignored the Spirit, but that he was at the Lord’s disposal. Success was not to measured by how many in the city embraced his message, but in how faithful he remained to his Lord.

The more danger that awaited Jesus and then Paul, the more they were set on going to their destination. Along the way, God’s Spirit spoke through God’s vessels about the impending hardships that Paul would face. Was The Lord sending the apostle mixed signals, or thoroughly preparing him for difficulties ahead?

Christians should not be confused about where they are. We should never be perfectly comfortable in a corrupt society because as believers we are in enemy territory with an unpopular mission.

It had become Paul’s life to start churches, visit those churches, and report back to churches. This kept him busy and blessed. The ministry of the gospel should always be going forward in us.

It takes courage to set God apart and serve God alone. Courage is necessary because in the world we will have tribulations, because submitting to God is better that submitting to fear, because the Captain of our salvation faced the cross, and because God stands with those who stand for Him.
