Summary

Those whom Jesus Christ has redeemed find their satisfaction in Him, glorifying God by maintaining moral purity. Immorality is to be avoided, not simply for its own sake, but as the very premise of sanctification: we are separated from sin and to God. Our bodies were not created by God for our pleasure, but for his. Furthermore, they were redeemed by Jesus Christ and are not ours to do with as we wish, but belong to him to bring him praise and glory. Along these lines, Scripture commands both the negative and positive aspects of moral purity: “flee immorality” (v. 18) and “glorify God in your body” (v. 20).
