Every disciple needs the encouragement and focus that comes with walking with the Lord and learning the Scriptures better. The reality of the resurrection provided the anchor for faith that the early church needed! Learn to value time in the Word where Christ still instructs and corrects us.

Our eternal hope is tethered to Christ’s resurrection: “…Because I live, you also will live” (John 14:19). Jesus identified himself, “I am the resurrection and the life…” (John 11:25).

Clearly the “man in the middle” was the God of the Ages. In his High Priestly prayer, God the Son could say to the Father, “I glorified you on the earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do” (John 17:4).

The Jews weren’t in control; neither were the Romans. Luke shows that Jesus was not running from the Sanhedrin, or trying to get off on a technicality. He was in control and headed to the cross!

Why did Peter fail? He did not practice humility (1 Pet 5:6). He did not pray in temptation (vv. 45–46). He did not stay close to Christ (v. 54). Why did Peter ultimately succeed? He was genuinely broken (vv. 61–62). Jesus interceded for him (v. 32). The Holy Spirit came upon him (Acts 2).
