Pastor Perry earned a Bachelor of Arts in Missions from Northland International University and a Master of Divinity degree from Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary. Blessed with the privilege of growing up in this church, the Lord has now entrusted him with the privilege of teaching the Bible, ministering in music, and serving wherever he can. He was called as the assistant pastor in 2003 and teaches an adult Sunday School class, leads the youth group, oversees the deacons, and serves as the church secretary. He and his wife, Bekah, enjoy outdoor activities, traveling, and raising puppies as guide dogs for the visually impaired.
Like the apostle Paul, I can never completely get over God’s grace to me: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost” (1 Tim 1:15). As a child blessed with a godly family, God opened my eyes to my sinfulness and his grace in the person and work of Jesus Christ. God has lavished grace on my life through his salvation, my family, the excellent training I have received, and my wonderful wife.
I first attended WBC kicking and screaming—literally! God has blessed me with the privilege of being a part of this church since I was born. The joyful privilege and sobering responsibility of now being part of the leadership of this church is constantly on my mind. My fellow elders have encouraged and challenged me for years, and I thank God for them. I love God’s Word and I love God’s church, so serving at WBC is a dream come true for me.
My passion for our church is that this family of believers in Jesus Christ would be constantly growing more and more like our Savior. I want our church to be a place where we honestly, reverently, and joyfully worship Jesus Christ together. My prayer for WBC echoes Paul’s prayer for the church at Rome: “May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God” (Rom 15:5–7).
