September means Westerville Bible Church is hosting its annual missionary conference. We are looking forward to another time of encouragement and challenge along the lines of world missions this year September 24–28.

Our Theme: Christ the Wisdom of God

This year our conference theme comes from 1 Corinthians 1:22–24.

For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

In 1 Corinthians 1, Paul teaches that before conversion, the lost are convinced over their own wisdom and ability. They are not impressed with the power of the gospel or the wisdom of God. The message of missions is that sinners should confess that their intellectualism cannot save from sin, but that God, in his perfect wisdom, sent Jesus Christ to atone for sins. With electing grace, God builds his church with helpless, foolish, condemned sinners who repent and believe. We rejoice that God “chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise” so that all the glory and praise goes to him. We proclaim Christ as the power and wisdom of God, trusting him to effectually draw proud rebels and make them humble saints.

Our Missionary Guests

We have the privilege of hosting two missionary families that Westerville Bible Church has supported for many years.

Mike and Faith Goldfuss, missionaries with GFA to Mexico City, have been serving with their six children on the south side of that large metropolis since 1995. They minister at Padierna Bible Church, which they planted. Their children, Mikey, Cristi, Carissa, Matthew, Cheri, and Cara, will be with us as they are able. Our church has supported the Goldfusses since they went to the field.

Their children Daniel, Sarah, John, and David will be with us throughout the week. Abbie grew up here at WBC. Our church has supported the Nicholsons since they went to the field.

Our Schedule

Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday evening we will have an evening service at 7:00 p.m. Each night our missionaries will present their ministry and open the Word of God to us.
